Ocean Mainport Rescue Ltd operates a philosophy in which the management of safety, health and environmental control is integral to all commercial activities. All employees have a responsibility to prevent accidents, incidents or injury to themselves or others, and prevent harm to the environment. The company operates a health, safety and environmental protection system based on the ISM Code and since February 2007 the company and all the vessels have been subjected to an external audit for compliance with this code. The company is committed to a policy of continuous improvement.
During 2008, the safety management system will be developed to achieve compliance with the requirements of the quality standard ISO 9000 and the environmental standard ISO 14000.
The company provides training in safety awareness for all ship’s staff and safety leadership courses for senior personnel, to enable the ship’s staff to take an active role in promoting a strong safety culture onboard the vessels. The strength of the safety culture was demonstrated in March 2008 by the fleet achieving one year without a Lost Time Injury.
